The Carole and Ray Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Connecticut Health Center have an outstanding opportunity to join their team of gynecologic oncologists.
We are seeking a faculty member to join the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the Assistant/Associate Professor level to help us build a regional center of excellence and, in the future, a fellowship program. The ideal candidate should be board-certified/board-eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Gynecologic Oncology, with a commitment to excellence in patient care, education and clinical investigation. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience, credentials and prior accomplishments.
The Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center is a multi-disciplinary, state-of-the-art facility dedicated to premier cancer care. With more than 33,000 patient visits and 1,200 diagnosed cancers annually, our team has developed a national reputation for compassionate, skilled care. In fact, our volume has tripled just within the past four years. The center is the only facility in the state of Connecticut that has a 360-degree TomoTherapy unit.
Our team of providers includes medical & surgical oncologists, hematologists, reconstructive surgeons, radiation oncologists, all of whom collaborate with supportive services such as nursing, social and nutritional services, genetic counseling and complementary medicine. In addition, all of our providers are located in close proximity, thereby enhancing the team approach to patient care and the sharing of information. The center also has an active multidisciplinary tumor boards that meet weekly to discuss treatment options for all patients and offers a wide variety of cancer prevention programs.
As part of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Health Center, members of the cancer center have an opportunity to work closely with the Departments/Centers for Molecular Medicine, Vascular Biology, Aging, Cell Analysis & Modeling, Cell Biology, Genetics and Developmental Biology and Immunology in translational research efforts. Clinical research at the cancer center is conducted through the cooperative group model as well as investigator-initiated trials.
Our location in Farmington, CT offers a vibrant mix of urban and rural communities. There is affordable housing, excellent public and private schools, a low crime rate, and insignificant traffic concerns. Major colleges and prep schools are nearby. Boston and New York are within two hours driving distance. In addition, Hartford has four excellent theaters, a symphony, and world-renowned museums.
Farmington is nestled in a valley and therefore, the four seasons are magnificent. There is a beautiful fall experience, winter skiing in Connecticut, Vermont and the Berkshires, and summer escapes to nearby shoreline beaches and lakes.
